Frances J. “Fran” Kirchhoff, 89, of Shell Rock and formerly of Tripoli, died at the Shell Rock Healthcare Center on Sunday, January 29, 2017.
Funeral services will be held at Faith United Church of Christ in Tripoli on Friday, February 3, 2017, at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Marilyn Sargent officiating. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, February 2nd at Rettig Funeral Home in Tripoli and for one hour preceding services at the church on Friday. Inurnment will be at the church cemetery at a later date. Memorials may be made in her name to a charity of the donor’s choice.
Frances J., daughter of John and Eva (Sertick) Ures was born March 30, 1927, in Sacramento, California. She was baptized in the Catholic Faith in Sacramento and received her education in the Redding School Systems, graduating from Shasta Union High School in May of 1946. Following graduation Fran worked at Pacific Telephone and Telegraph Company in Redding, California. On January 11, 1953, she was united in marriage with Daniel Kirchhoff in Redding, California. The couple lived in Redding for one year before moving to their farm of rural Tripoli in 1954. On May 31, 1954, Fran was confirmed at St. Peter’s Evangelical and Reformed Church (now known as Faith United Church of Christ) in Tripoli. The couple worked alongside each other on the farm where Fran was very active for over forty years before retiring in 1993. Following Daniel’s death, Fran remained on the farm until moving to the Shell Rock Healthcare Center in 2014. She enjoyed socializing with the employees and residents during her time there. Fran was a long time member of Faith United Church of Christ where she was very active in the Women’s Fellowship and helped on the lunch committee. She was also a volunteer for the library and Tripoli Nursing & Rehab. Fran enjoyed sewing, crocheting, knitting, going for walks, gardening, playing cards especially Schafkopf, but most especially Fran enjoyed spending time with her family and going to her grandchildren’s activities.
Fran is survived by her two children, David (Ruth) Kirchhoff of Tripoli and Pam (Mark) Condon of Windsor Heights; six grandchildren, Adam (Ashley) Kirchhoff of Austin, Minnesota, Krystal (Clayton) Liebau of Waverly, Lauren Condon of West Des Moines, Emily Condon of Ames, Bailey Kirchhoff of Tripoli and Julia Condon of Windsor Heights; five great-grandchildren, Nova Liebau, Kinley Kirchhoff, Gemma Kirchhoff, Benson Liebau, and Oliver Kirchhoff; and one brother Jack (Joan) Ures of Redding, California.
In addition to her parents and husband, Daniel, she was preceded in death by eight siblings, Mike, Louie, Nick, Steve, Joe, Rose, Mary and Tootie.
